An international sporting competition is underway and Australia is now the first country to officially bid to host the 2022 World Cup.
The Australian bid was revealed by Fairfax Media on Monday and it is understood the Government is in talks with the International Federation of Football Associations (IFFA) and FIFA to secure the right to host Australia’s first-ever World Cup, which will take place in 2022.
If Australia wins the bid, it will join more than 40 other countries, along with Canada, China, Russia and the United Kingdom, as the first in line to host a World Cup in Asia.AAP/ABC NewsTopics:world-politics,government-and-politics-andreconciling,sports-organisations,sports,australia,africaFirst posted January 08, 2022 12:59:51More stories from Australia
